Reclaimed pitch pine used to make wooden flooring

Why reclaimed pitch pine?

Pitch pine has been used for centuries as a hardwearing and stable flooring material. Due to the high resin content, it is rot-resistant and has lovely figuring not found in other wood types, including fewer knots. It also has a unique, forest scent!

By recycling and reusing older timbers, we’re not cutting down any more trees to make our flooring, and as older timbers were grown much more slowly than modern trees, you benefit from a harder floorboard with a tighter grain.

Reclaimed flooring also has characterful features which you don’t get with brand new wood. It’s ideal for period properties and for anyone who just likes a bit more character!

Machine used for tongue and groove flooring

Tongue & groove or straight edge?

A tongue and groove edging helps to line floorboards up when laying your flooring and prevents draughts due to the snug fit. As the boards are interconnected, it also strengthens the finished flooring.

Straight edge floorboards are a little quicker to install and can be retrofitted more easily than tongue and groove flooring.
